Yuletide 2016 Letter

Hello,

Thank you so much for offering one of these rare fandoms! I can't wait to see what you write. In general I'm very easy to please and am comfortable with all sorts of content (save for a few major squicks, which I will let you know about.) I want fic for all three fandoms equally so don't worry if some of the requests are longer than others. 

I've said this most times I've signed up for Yuletide, but I do mean it: I want you to write wherever inspiration takes you. Whatever gets you enthusiastic. You don't have to stick hard and fast to any of my prompts. They're really more like guidelines to let you know the aspects/time frames I'm most interested in and hopefully help spark an idea! I do love a healthy balance between introspection and dialogue/action, though. Character studies are awesome but I tend to prefer them as filtered through their interactions with others. Otherwise I'm fine with most genres. I'm down with m/m, m/f, poly, etc.

What I really like:
Hurt/comfort, emotional tension (resolved or otherwise), unresolved sexual tension, fun dialogue, companionable snark, found families, competence porn, allusions to mythology or fairy tales, earned happy endings, characters having a sense of humor about sex, characters figuring each other out, angst, exploration of the lingering effects of trauma, trust and loyalty

What I really dislike:
Please completely avoid anything involving terminal illness. It's fine if the character gets a cold or even deals with something pretty bad (for example, a bit of exploration about how Date Akira feels about his health condition would be fine as long as it's not the whole focus of the fic), but please nothing where they're diagnosed with something and there's no hope at all. Otherwise, please no: torture porn, bathroom play, or omegaverse. This year I don't want crossovers with anything.

Fandoms

 

Kamen Rider OOO
Characters: Gotou Shintarou, Date Akira, Satonaka Erika

Team Birth! I had a hell of a time choosing between Kamen Rider OOO characters (and if you want to finagle literally any other character into this fic, go right ahead. I love basically everyone. I especially love the Gotou+Eiji relationship, and the way Ankh reacts to Date!) However, in the end, I did have to go for this trio. There's something I just adore about them and the themes associated with their part of the plot. You don't have to include all of them but since I love their group dynamics so much, I really would like to see your duo of choice in this fic. (I'm admittedly low on ideas for the Date and Satonaka duo but if you get a really persistent plot bunny for them, go for it!)

Some prompts: 

• Date and Gotou: Yeah, I ship this like burning in case you're wondering. I'd really like to get a glimpse at their dynamic after The World is Saved, and Date knows he's going to survive, and Gotou has come into his own. How have they changed? How are they the same? This can be a hard hitting exploration of how their relationship dynamics have changed over the course of knowing each other. It could be a very lowkey domestic thing with Date trying to get Gotou to just freaking nap after the aforementioned saving of the world. Or anything in between really. Just give me them having a good time with each other and I will be set. Smut wise this is a great one for size difference kink, by the way. Just saying.
• Satonaka and Gotou: When I binge watched this, I was so sad when Date left for the last stretch of the show. However this odd couple duo ended up being amazing and hilarious in its own right. I'd love to see more of their bickering and solving problems. Or it would also be great to have them get drunk together and shenanigans ensue (you can decide the shenanigans.) What does Satonaka think of all the craziness that happens around her, how does she keep her cool, how much of her opinion does she share with Gotou? And if you're into writing epistolary fic, I'd be so into a fic about the grumpy texts they possibly send each other. 
• Date and Gotou and Satonaka: Well. I mean. You could just go full on "yay we saved the world!" OT3 sex with them and that be amazing. If I remember correctly, there's some online short that has Satonaka becoming Birth. I'd love to see some kind of AU or post-series fic where she does have to be Birth for a while. What would that look like? How would Date and Gotou react to that? 

All In - Monsta X (Music Video)
Characters: Character of Lim Changkyun, Character of Yoo Kihyun

Oh good god, this music video. Loved the setting, the magical realism, the mystery of it all. Love that it seems like a somewhat standard depiction of dystopia and then- surprise motherfuckers- the main characters are apparently in some kind of mystery cult. It's just so wild and weird and unexpected and I'd love to hear more about it. As with Kamen Rider OOO, I'm totally fine with any other characters coming along for the ride. Also feel free to do as much or as little as you want with the worldbuilding. (I prefer the somewhat grimy dystopia setting in All In over the surrealist setting of Fighter, but I don't mind incorporating Fighter into your fic. More on that below.) 

I did select I.M. and Kihyun, though, because I'm seriously curious about them. The storyline of the music video follows the two parallel plots of Hyungwon/Minhyuk and Shownu. However, we do get some intriguing glimpses of I.M and Kihyun (yes, this means I ship them in this vid.) They're shown cuddling up to each other during the mystery cult scenes both times, including a really cute forehead bop at one point. There are some things I wonder about, and things I would like to see.

Some prompts:

• Even though I.M. and Kihyun seem very close, Kihyun is not included in the arson or robbery. Why is this? Did I.M. discourage it somehow in order to protect Kihyun (there are a couple moments where it seems like the characters seem protective of him)? If so how does that effect their relationship?
• Why is Kihyun running away at the end? And why does he seem so happy about the purple blob in the sky? 
• I'm not sure what to make of Fighter. I'm definitely intrigued by Kihyun hauling a body around, though. Sometimes I think Fighter is just a purple flower hallucination. Sometimes, though, I think Fighter is Kihyun making hard bargains and leading the others into the underworld to save Shownu, Minhyuk, and Hyungwon. If so, what does it mean that I.M. is missing at the end? Did the underworld give him his other three friends back in exchange for I.M., the one he loves? 
• You could also just write me purple flower induced makeouts between this two characters and I would be content! But seriously, I love "the world is terrible but at least we can take solace in each other" kissing/sex, and this setting is perfect for that. 

Dublin Murder Squad Series
Characters: Antoinette Conway, Stephen Moran, Aislinn Murray

This series is so riveting. I'm impressed by how Tana French takes on so many character voices and nails each and every one.

Once again this is a request where I'm not expecting all the characters to make an appearance. However, if you're going for Conway, I'd love to see her in the context of her partnership with Moran. And vice versa. 

Some prompts:

• I wonder a lot about the post-Secret Place early days of their partnership. In The Trespasser, Conway is just overflowing with warmth when it comes to Moran. She's put up with a lot of hazing from Murder, so I'd love to see the early days when she starts to think 'wow this really might work.' How did they end up betting on whether a suspect would cry, for example? I'd almost say I want domestic fic for these two, but in the context of feeling at ease with each other in the work place. 
• It would be fun to see case fic for these two, also. But not one of the big dramatic cases that we see in the books. Nah, I think it would be fun to see them working one of the unglamorous cases that they both complain about in The Trespasser. 
• The interrogation scenes are some of my absolute favorite moments in the whole series. If you're not feeling oddly cute partner fluff for these two, I'd love to see them just eviscerating the alibi of someone. 

Regarding Aislinn Murray... The Trespasser is really new, and all the victims in this series are like walking spoilers. So I've put my prompts for her in this post.
